My participation to the "Creative Inspiration Contest" hosted by :iconkuschelirmel:

Inspired by the beautiful picture of :iconmbhenriksen: I Set Fire to the Rain by MBHenriksen I love how he did a beautiful light effect on the rain, in a lightened town, and tried to do something similar.

Stock used:

Thanks to everybody.

I really love this picture! Seriously its soo good. I do have a few recommendations though. For one I think there is maybe a bit too much fantasy on the right side of the image. After all the focus of the picture (I assume) is not the rain or the blurred lights/bridge in the background, but rather it seems to me that the focus is/should be on the girls face, and mostly on the intricate work done for that mask. I really wish the mask was more visible and the scenery was less so. Also this seems a bit bright for a masquerade picture. Considering that wearing a mask at all means at least some degree of mystery and uncertainty. Lastly, this reminds me of the cover to the book Republic of Thieves
Overall I really love this shot and hope to see more like it in the future! Keep it up

This is a beautiful piece and the sparkling effect added to the rain is wonderful. The colors are sharp and vibrant and one gets the feeling that the girl is sheltering from the rain above a busy city scene. Maybe she is a warrior from another world or maybe just a party goer in New Orleans. If there would be any changes to make, I would suggest cropping out some of that gorgeously lighted background. The lights are captivating, perhaps too much so as they compete with your main subject, the girl. Just a little dimming might also do it. Once again, it i a beautifully colored piece. Good work!

I would add water droplets to more areas - such as coming off of her earlobe, the tips of the locks of hair, and the buckles on the gloves.  Try these tutorials Liquid on Skin Tutorial by blackdahlia  Water Drop Tutorial by Psycho-pete   How to do Realistic Droplets on Leaves by SignHermitCrab

Thank you for the tutorials (I did the last one). The first one, especially, seems very useful.

Finally, I didn't use this tutorial (too many work), but my usual technics (Photoshop tutorial). Do you think the picture looks better now?

Oh yes!  The drips off of the hair tips is great, and the spots on the silk are a good addition.

I would say use textures and some more droplets on the arms  and the red fabric. you could as well leave dark spots on the red fabric as in a soaking rain the fabric would get soaked. Hope that helps :)
